Camera gear heads, prepare to freak out.
Recently the Photojojo Store released the iPhone SLR Mount, a hardware attachment that allows you to use your fancy Canon EOS or Nikon SLR lenses while shooting pictures with your iPhone. It costs $249 for the iPhone 4 version and $190 if you get it for the iPhone 3GS or iPhone 3G models.
This product is not for the casual picture taker who is generally satisfied with the quality of iPhone 4 photos. Instead, it is for serious photographers who already have these thousand-dollar-plus lenses lying around.
Digital photography is in a really interesting place right now. The iPhone 4 is the most-used camera on Flickr now, and it's generally acknowledged that smartphone cameras are well on their way to replacing the standard point and shoot. We've officially moved to a place where a camera on a smartphone like the iPhone 4 isn't just a good cellphone camera, it's actually a good camera. And with attachments like this, it can be a seriously good camera.
Some concerns may be that the SLR Mount is worth more than the IPhone itself, which is true, but if you are a serious photographer you will like the idea of having a decent camera on you at all times and if you need to add the mount you can take quality pictures in a moment’s notice. Sure I still prefer my actual Cannon EOS or DSLR but I like the idea of this also. Let me know what you think.
